Dr. Aigars Martinsons is the Head of the Proctology Department and a surgeon. He graduated from Riga Stradins University with a doctoral degree and completed his surgical residency. In 2004, he earned a medical doctorate. He is an associate professor at Riga Stradins University. His specialization includes the diagnosis of diseases of the colon and rectum, pharmacological and surgical treatments, the application of minimally invasive methods in the treatment of hemorrhoidal disease and anal mucosa tears, anal fistulas, and other proctological conditions, as well as the diagnosis and surgical treatment of chronic constipation and fecal incontinence, and rectal and colon ultrasonography.
Dr. Aigars Martinsons is the first in Eastern Europe and the 4th in Europe to introduce laser hemorrhoid surgery, starting in 2009.
